Barry Anderson has spent the past 23 years working as a professional artist and makeup FX person in the state of Fl.

Barry had an interest in the strange and the unusual from a very early age. His passion for monsters is what fueled him to create his art. He has spent half of his professional career in South Fl. And has now been living and working in Central Fl. for over twelve years.

Professional Artist

Barry has accomplished himself as an Illustrator, Designer, Painter, Mold maker and Sculptor. He has worked for several art studios and foundries. He has also worked on hundreds of freelance projects through the years. His unusual illustrations have been seen in numerous publications and on printed apparel. His original painting and sculptures have been displayed in galleries and museums. Barry is one of the countries leading figure makers, creating realistic figures from wax, resin, silicone and latex.

Believe it or Not!

Barry was hired by Ripleys Entertainment, Inc. in 1994. He works as their Lead Artist, creating wax museum figures displays and props. For several years he has managed the Art Department. His current title is Director of the Art Department. Working with Ripleys is the perfect career for someone with a passion for the strange and unusual. Ripleys Entertainment, Inc. has expanded into a multibillion dollar company. Barry’s work can be seen world wide at Ripleys Believe it or Not museums, Louis Tussauds wax works, Ripleys Haunted Attractions, Ripleys Aquariums and the New Great Wolf Lodge.

Make-up Effects

Barry has simultaneously pursued a second career in the state of Fl. working in the production industry, as a side line Barry has had many accomplishments. He started in front of the camera and landed a regular spot as an extra undercover police officer on the first season of Miami Vice, after Miami Vice he chose to pursue make-up FX work. He still does some occasional voice over work.

He has worked on over 15 feature films though the years, some of those films are George Romero’s “Day of the Dead”, “Jeepers Creepers”, “Mr. Nanny” with Hulk Hogan, “The Unholy” and “Temptation”.

He has also worked on numerous commercial and television productions some of those include The Discovery Channel “Super Sleuths” by re-creating crime scene victims for the “Aileen Wurnos Documentary”.  National Geographic’s “The Mummy Roadshow” re-creating an Incan Mummy, with this came the opportunity to travel to remote regions of the High Andes in Peru with Scientist to study real mummies. PBS “Secrets of the Dead” “Gangland Graveyards” re-creating crime scene victims and skeletal remains. Most recently Barry assisted Tony Gardner’s, Alterian Studios, in casting John Travolta for his upcoming role in the movie “Hairspray”. “
